TU Delft purchased a license to use Browse Aloud
, 7123 views, News, TU Delft purchased a license to use BrowseAloud for the content on Blackboard. BrowseAloud makes it easier to read and understand online texts. Just select text and it will be read out aloud. Also, BrowseAloud offers other adjustable settings. To use BrowseAloud, a single one time download is required. This download is free and can be saved locally.
After having downloaded BrowseAloud, you can adjust several personal settings, such as reading speed, language and voice. Also, you can make personal pronunciation alterations, wich will be saved to the same location where you saved BrowseALoud, and will thus only be available to you. If there are pronounciation adjustments you think are applicable to all Blackboard users, you can fill out a request-form. These requests will be taken for consideration, before they become available to all Blackboard users. See Also:

Dit heeft zeker wel met de TU te maken. De TU heeft hiervoor een licentie afgesloten voor deze voorleessoftware.
De keuze voor deze software is gestart vanwege de vraag hiernaar vanuit de groep studenten die moeite hebben met lezen.
Het is erg goed dat deze functionaliteit aan Blackboard wordt toegevoegd, maar de presentatie is niet duidelijk. Het lijkt me verstandig om in hetzelfde bericht mee te delen dat de TUDelft een licentie voor dit programma heeft aangekocht om studenten te helpen. Het bericht verschijnt er immers niet met de intentie dat elke bezoeker dat programma installeert, terwijl dat nu wel zo lijkt.
